MÉLANGE 30 Jahre Atelierhaus MENGERZEILE Seit über 30 Jahren ist das Atelierhaus Mengerzeile eine Konstante in der Kunstszene der sich ständig wandelnden Hauptstadt. 1993 schufen Künstler:innen in einer ehemaligen Piano-Fabrik am Mauerstreifen einen lebendigen Kunstort mit dreißig Ateliers, der Galerie Kunsthalle m3, einem internationalen Gastatelier und dem Amiga Club. 2018 gelang es nach langjährigen Verhandlungen, die ständig bedrohte Existenz des Atelierhauses langfristig zu sichern. 36 internationale Kreative präsentieren sich in der kommenden Ausstellung mit ihren verschiedenen Perspektiven und Positionen aus Malerei, Skulptur, Konzeptkunst, Film, Fotografie und Design als eine vielfältige und solidarische MÉLANGE. Sie steht auch für den Widerstand gegen Verdrängung – ähnlich wie die Galerie Neurotitan im Haus Schwarzenberg, einer Kunstoase, die sich ebenfalls seit drei Jahrzehnten in Berlin Mitte als wichtiger Ort der Debatte und des künstlerischen Austauschs behauptet. Die Ausstellung zeigt auch, dass solche gewachsenen Kunsträume intakt bleiben müssen, um mit diesen Veränderungen kreativ arbeiten zu können – oder in Bowie‘s Worten – „turn and face the strange…“ (Changes). MÉLANGE 30 Years Atelierhaus MENGERZEILE For over 30 years, the Atelierhaus Mengerzeile has been a constant in the art scene of a continuously changing capital. In 1993, a group of artists converted a former piano factory along the wall border, creating a lively art location with thirty studios, the Galerie Kunsthalle m3, an international guest studio and the Amiga Club. In 2018, after many years of negotiations, it was possible to secure the constantly threatened existence of the Mengerzeile studio house for the long term. 36 international creatives now present their different perspectives and positions in painting, sculpture, conceptual art, film, photography and design as a diverse and united MÉLANGE. This show stands for the Atelierhaus Mengerzeile’s steadfastness - similar to that of Galerie Neurotitan in Haus Schwarzenberg, an art oasis in Berlin Mitte, which has also resolutely provided an important platform for debate and artistic exchange for three decades. The exhibition emphasizes the importance of such art spaces remaining intact - in order to continue working creatively within urban transformation - or in Bowie's words - "turn and face the strange..." (Changes).
